1996 NHL Entry Draft
The NHL Entry Draft in 1996, the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League, Center in the U.S. St. Louis, Missouri was held in Kiel on 22 June 1996.
A total of 241 players were taken in nine rounds. Without a real top star of the Draft is one of the weakest in the NHL history. As a player, which turned out to still be a good scorer, went out of the first round of the Lithuanians Dainius Zubrus and Marco Sturm forth. Storm was even considered as the first German in the first round. But not only in the first round but also in later rounds, the Scouts had to rely on a good knowledge of European actors. The defender Zdeno Chára, Pavel Kubina and Tomas Kaberle and the attacker Andreas Dackell were among the players, despite their late election made a name for himself in the league.
