A World Championship
There were some changes this year: the A- group first played with ten teams and the C2 group was renamed as at senior level in the D group. Canada was the ninth time world champion and moved so that the same with the USSR / Russia.
Mode
Approved male players were under 20 years old (U -20). Participated have ten teams were divided into two groups of five teams. Each team played once against each group opponent. Subsequently, the two latter the only losers played per group in the B World Cup. The top three teams in each group played in the playoffs from the world title, the two group winners received a bye to the semifinals.
