1997–98 United Hockey League season
The 1997/98 season was the seventh regular season of the United Hockey League (until 1997 Colonial Hockey League). The ten teams completed in the regular season per 74 encounters. The point of best team in the regular season were the Quad City Mallards, which won the Colonial Cup in the play- offs for the second time.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Dayton Ice Bandits were inactive.
- The BC Icemen were added as an expansion team in the league.
- The Utica Blizzard were to Winston -Salem, North Carolina, moved and changed their name to Winston -Salem IceHawks.
