1997 RHI season

The 1997 season was the fifth season of Roller Hockey International. The regular season was discharged from the ten teams in the summer months. There were 24 complete games, the best eight teams qualified for the play-offs. The fifth Murphy Cup winners were the Anaheim Bullfrogs, which prevailed in the Best of three final series against the New Jersey Rockin Rollers 2-0.

Change of teams

The following changes were made before the season:

  • The Minnesota Artic Blast, Philadelphia Bulldogs, San Diego Barracudas and the Vancouver Voodoo dissolved.
  • The Oakland Skates and the Oklahoma Coyotes withdrew from the league, but persisted.
  • The Empire State Cobras became the Buffalo Wings.
  • The Ottawa Loggers were called to Ottawa Wheels.
