1997 Russian Top League
The season of Supreme League in 1997 was the sixth Russian football championship. The season began on March 16, 1997 and ended on 9 November 1997. Champion for the fifth time Spartak Moscow. Descent had Fakel Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and locomotive Kamas Naberezhnye Chelny.

Mode
For a victory, there were three points for a draw one point. In the event of a tie at first decided the number of victories over the placement followed by the outcome of the matches and the goal difference and the number of goals scored. Case of a tie for first place, a playoff was conducted.
