1998–99 Eliteserien season
The 1998/99 season was the 60th season of the Elite series, the highest Norwegian ice hockey league. Champion for the 20th time overall in club Vålerenga Ishockey. Furuset IF descended to the second division.
Mode
In the main round each of the ten teams played a total of 44 games. The top four teams qualified for the playoffs, where the Master was played. The penultimate round of the main had to face the runner-up of the second division, while the last placed the main round descent directly to the second division in the relegation. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
