1998–99 Elitserien season
The Elitserien season 1998/99 was the 24th season of the Elitserien, the highest league in Swedish ice hockey. Swedish Champion was the twelfth time in their history the Brynäs IF, while the IF Björklöven relegation to the second division.

Mode
The twelve teams in the Elitserien contested first 50 games. During the first eight teams for the play- offs qualified, nine and ten the season was over for the teams ranked and the two had last placed in the Kvalserien to avoid relegation to the second division 's best compete. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.

Play-offs
The quarterfinals and semifinals, and the final were played in the mode " Best-of -Five".
