1998–99 FHR season

In the season 1998/99 the Russian Ice Hockey Federation ( FHR) was an own second-rate hockey league in parallel to Wysschaja league of professional clubs.

Mode

The 17 teams in the league were divided into two conferences before the season according to regional criteria. The Western Conference contained eight participants with a less teams than the Eastern Conference with nine participants. First, each team played four games against each team in their own conference, so the number of matches per team in the West Koferenz 28 and in the Eastern Conference was 32.

Subsequently, the top seven teams played (without the second teams and Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk as Kazakh team ) along with Vityaz Podolsk from the Perwaja League in a final round in return game against each other, while five teams in the Eastern Conference in four games against each opponent in a placement Round played against each other.

For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
