1998–99 French Division 1

The Division 1 1998/99 was the 61st season of the French Division 1 began the season on August 7, 1998. Promoted as AS Nancy, FC Lorient FC Sochaux came from the Ligue 2 this. The season as champion finished the Girondins Bordeaux and thus became the successor of the RC Lens. Qualifying for the UEFA Champions League managed Bordeaux, Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon ( qualification). For the UEFA Cup, the AS Monaco and FC Nantes and Lens qualified on the two cup competitions. In the UEFA Intertoto Cup the following year played Stade Rennes, Montpellier HSC and FC Metz after Paris SG had renounced participation. Relegated to the Ligue 2 had the FC Lorient, FC Sochaux and Toulouse FC.
