1998–99 Slovak 1.Liga season

The season 1998/99 was the sixth regular hosting of the first league, the second Slovakian Hockey League. Master was the HK Spartak Dubnica, like the runner- HK SKP Žilina qualified for the Extraliga qualification round in which both teams but failed. The HK 31 Setra Kežmarok, who retired before the season for financial reasons from the league, as well as the HK VTJ Piešťany descended into the 2nd league.

Mode

In the main round each of the eleven teams completed a total of 22 games. The top two teams after the main round qualified for the Extra Liga relegation. The remaining nine teams contested a relegation round, which finished last descent directly into the second league, and the results were taken from the main round, during the penultimate round of the descent into the relegation had to play against the champions of League 2. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point. For one defeat after regulation time gave no points.

Expulsion

In the relegation to the HK VTJ Wagon Slovakia Trebišov sat in the best- of-three series 2-1 victories against the HK Povazská Bystrica through and remained so in the first league.
