1998–99 WPHL season

The 1998/99 season was the third regular season of the Western Professional Hockey League. The 17 regular WPHL teams completed in the regular season per 69 encounters, while the two Russian visiting teams HC Traktor Chelyabinsk and crystal Elektrostal eight or nine matches contested. The point of best team in the regular season were the Shreveport Mudbugs, who won the President's Cup for the first time in the play- offs.

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

  • The Russian hockey club HC Traktor Chelyabinsk was a guest team participated in the WPHL and played nine season games.
  • The Russian hockey club crystal Elektrostal was a guest team participated in the WPHL and played eight season games.
  • The Abilene Aviators were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Alexandria Warthogs were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Arkansas GlacierCats were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Corpus Christi IceRays were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Tupelo T -Rex were added as an expansion team in the league.
