1998 KY26

1998 KY26 is a near-Earth asteroid of the Apollo - type, which was discovered on 28 May 1998 by Tom Gehrels within the Spacewatch program. In early June 1998, the asteroid approached Earth to 800,000 kilometers, which is equivalent to more than twice the Earth-Moon distance.

Properties

On the basis of radar observations of a rotational period of 10.7 minutes was observed. This is the asteroid 1998 KY26 with the shortest measured rotational period. This suggests that it is at the asteroid to a compact body and not a Rubble Pile, as a Rubble Pile would break apart at such speeds. The diameter of the small asteroid is about 30 meters. Maybe he's a fragment of a larger asteroid. He probably contains large amounts of frozen water, possibly up to 4,000,000 liters.
