1998 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 1998 was the 54th season of Norway's highest football league and the eighth season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on April 13, 1998 and ended on 31 October 1998 with the second qualification game.

Mode

The fourteen teams in the league played in a simple round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 26 games. The two last placed athlete had to dismount. The third last had to play in home and away leg against third- placed teams from the first Divisjon to the whereabouts in the Tippeligaen.

Season

Rosenborg BK won for the seventh consecutive year, the Norwegian championship. It was also the 13th championship for the team. At the beginning of the season Viking was able to keep up with Rosenborg BK and Molde FK. From the beginning of the season the two teams is translated but then on the rest of the league. Molde meantime had even a lead of up to five points at Rosenborg. But then Rosenborg won consecutively seven games and could even work out a five -point lead. On the penultimate matchday Rosenborg secured the championship. Molde was able to secure the second place, even though they lost four of their last five games. The cup competition was won for the first time in its history Stabæk IF. The climber Moss FK and Vålerenga Fotball were able to keep in the Tippeligaen.
