1998 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The Games of the 22 Junior A World Championship in 1998 found in the period from 25 December 1997 to January 3, 1998 in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna, Finland. The B group was in Tychy and Sosnowiec, Poland, played out, the C group in Tallinn and Kohtla- Jarve, Estonia and the D group in Kaunas and Elektrėnai, Lithuania.

A total of 34 teams took part in this junior world championships. Finland was the second time champion of Russia and the surprisingly strong Switzerland, who won her first medal at Junior Championships.

A World Championship
Mode
Approved male players were under 20 years old (U -20). Participated have ten teams were divided into two groups of five teams. Each team played once against each group opponent. Subsequently, the two bottom-placed the only losers played out in the B World Cup best-of -three mode. The other eight teams played in the playoffs for the world title.
