1999–2000 Heineken Cup
The Heineken Cup 1999/2000 was the fifth edition of the Heineken Cup, the main European cup competition in rugby union. It involved 24 teams from six countries, again with there were teams from England, after they had been missing in the previous year because of disputes between the organizers and the English Association. The final took place on 27 May 2000 at Twickenham Stadium in London. Cup winners were the Northampton Saints in England, the Irish team Munster Rugby beat in the final.
Mode
The participants were divided into six groups of four teams. Each team played one home game and one away match against the three group opponents. For the quarter final, qualified the six group winners and two best runners-up.
The points are distributed as follows:
- 2 points for a win
- 1 point for a draw
Group stage
- Group winners qualified for the quarterfinals
- Two best runners qualified for the quarter-finals
