1999–2000 I-Divisioona season
The 1999/2000 season was the 26th and final season of the I- divisioona, the second highest Finnish ice hockey league. Kärpät Oulu, Jyväskylä Vaasan sports and discos qualified for the SM- liiga relegation, in the Kärpät Oulu reached the climb. Ahmat Hyvinkää and SaPKo Savonlinna up in the relegation from the Football League in third. For the 2000/01 season the league was replaced by the newly formed Finnish Mestis as the second highest league.

Mode
In the main round each of the twelve teams completed a total of 48 games. The winner of the Main Round qualified directly for the SM- liiga relegation. The teams ranked 2-9 disputed first playoff, the two winners also allowed to participate in the SM- liiga relegation. The two last placed athlete had to compete for the league in the relegation. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
