1999–2000 Nationalliga A season

The season 1999/2000 was the 62nd regular season of the National League A. In the playoff finals the ZSC Lions Swiss champions were against HC Lugano while the SCL Tigers play- outs directly reached the league in the. The loser of the play- outs, the Lakers from Rapperswil, won the League qualification against the master of the NLB, the EHC Chur, and remained so in the NLA.

Mode

Were played by the ten teams of two double rounds of 18 games. This was followed by a single round ( nine games) and the best eight teams determined the Swiss champion in playoff style. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals were played each after the mode Best of Seven.

The last two teams determined in the play- outs ( Best of Seven mode) the team that had to play for the league against the champions of the National League B.
