1999 ABC Championship
The basketball Asia Championship 1999 ( officially: FIBA Asia Championship 1999) was the 20th edition of this tournament and was held from 28 August to 5 September in Fukuoka, Japan. It was organized by FIBA Asia, the Asian Basketball Federation. The winner qualified for the Olympic Summer Games 2000.

Preliminary round
The first round was carried out in three groups of four teams and one group with three teams. The winner of the match was awarded two points, the loser one point. The top two of each group played in groups E and F for the places 1-8. The third - and fourth-placed played in the groups G and H for places 9-15.
