1999 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 1999 due to the sponsorship of the automaker Toyota Toyota Libertadores Copa also was the 40th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. It was attended by 21 teams, each including the national champion of the nine best CONMEBOL countries and the Second and two representatives from Mexico and Venezuela, the determined two remaining qualifying places. The field was completed by defending champion CR Vasco da Gama. The tournament began on 21 February and ended on 16 June 1999 with the final second leg. The Brazilian representative Palmeiras São Paulo won the final against Deportivo Cali and for the first time the Copa Libertadores.
