1999 Veikkausliiga

The First Division in 1999 was the tenth season of the First Division, the highest Finnish league for football the men.

Twelve teams played for the Finnish championship in 1999. The number of teams was increased by two terms of the number of games that had to deny any team in the main round, let rise to 22. At the end of the main round, the best eight teams qualified for the championship round. Holders FC Haka and HJK Helsinki were far ahead of the rest of the competition and played the championship in the last seven games of the championship round among themselves. Here, the FC Haka had at the end with two points ahead and secured the seventh time the Finnish championship. The last four teams in the main round were in a relegation round again to twice each against each other. In this round, however, there were no changes in the placement and TPV Tampere had to join the second division again. FC Lahti and Vaasa PS had to be in the relegation prove: Both clubs were able to prevail almost against their opponents FF Jaro or Atlantis Helsinki and played so well in 2000 in the First Division.

In the final, the Finnish Football Cup, there was a duel between the second division FF Jaro and FC Jokerit, who had received the Erstligalizenz from PK -35 Helsinki in 1999 and took its place in the First Division. FF Jaro from the West Finnish Jakobstad (Finnish Pietarsaari ) won 2-1.

In the sixth edition of the Finnish League Cup to HJK Helsinki qualified for the first time for the finals. Instead met Vaasa PS in the final in Lahti on KTP Kotka. Vaasa won 3-0.

Tampere United rose to 2000 and thus played in the First Division. The ultimate game for the win in the promotion round to the direct ascent, United won 2-0 against Atlantis FC. Atlantis FC and FF Jaro took part in the relegation.
