1chipMSX
The 1chipMSX or the ESE MSX System 3 is an MSX- 2 system of D4 Enterprise. It was launched in 2006 in Japan on the market.
Description
The 1chipMSX is a new implementation of the MSX -2 standard into an Altera Cyclone FPGA chip EP1C12Q240C8N. The system has a transparent blue housing, as well as two slots for MSX cartridges and two joystick interfaces. The device has a number of video outputs (S- video, composite video, VGA ), a PS/2-Tastatur-Eingang and two USB Schittstellen and an SD / MCC card slot. Prepared are two audio outputs for a stereo sound implementation at a later generation.
The lack of floppy drive is compensated by an emulation of disk files on the SD / MMC cards. It is also possible via SD / MMC card to boot.
The Japanese version could not be sold in Europe because of RoHS. A European version is planned, but has not appeared on the market.
