2 -nitrodiphenylamine, short- NDPA or 2- NDPA is an orange-red organic compound, a nitrated derivative of the aromatic amine is diphenylamine and isomer to 3 -nitrodiphenylamine and 4 -nitrodiphenylamine.

Properties

2 -nitrodiphenylamine is strongly polar and shows an electric dipole moment of 4.13 Debye (at 20 ° C in benzene solution). The orange crystalline compound but dissolves slightly in water, good contrast, in ethanol.

Use

2 -nitrodiphenylamine is as a stabilizer of fuels used - and explosives, as well as in the manufacture of synthetic rubbers and other polymers - such as the Otto II fuel. Also, in some synthetic routes in organic chemistry, the compound is used. As a 5 mM solution in dilute sulfuric acid NDPA serves as a redox indicator for the titrimetric determination of Fe2 ions.
