2000–01 IHL season
The 2000/01 season was the 56th and last regular season of the International Hockey League. During the regular season, the eleven teams denied each of 82 games. In the play-offs, the Orlando Solar Bears prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their history. After dissolution of the IHL alternated six teams for 2001/02 season in the American Hockey League, while the remaining five teams einstellten the game operation.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Long Beach Ice Dogs were transferred to the West Coast Hockey League.
- The Michigan K- Wings stopped the game operation.
