2000–01 Slovak 1.Liga season

The 2000/ 01 was the eighth regular hosting of the first league, the second Slovakian Hockey League. Master was the MsHK Žilina, who rose as the runner- MHC Nitra directly in the Extraliga. The only losers were the HK Trnava, who retired before the season for financial reasons from the league.

Mode

In the main round each of the eleven teams completed a total of 40 games. The top two teams after the main round went directly to the Extraliga. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point. For one defeat after regulation time gave no points.
