2000–01 WPHL season
The 2000/01 season was the fifth and last regular season of Western Professional Hockey League. The 14 teams should contest in the regular season per 72 encounters, but the game plan due to the premature withdrawal of the financial Central Texas Stampede had to be changed. The point of best team in the regular season were the Tupelo T -Rex, while the Bossier - Shreveport Mudbugs for the third time won the President's Cup in the play- offs. The New Mexico Scorpions total of 34 points were deducted due to repeated exceeding the salary cap. After the season the WPHL merged with the Central Hockey League, which then took up ten of the 14 teams for the 2001/02 season.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Alexandria Warthogs stopped the game operation.
- The Arkansas GlacierCats stopped the game operation.
