2000 ATP Tour World Championships – Doubles
The Gold Flake ATP Tour World Doubles Championships 2000, the 27th edition of the Tennis Masters Cup and presented the final doubles tournament of the season with the eight best doubles dar. It was held from 13th to 17th December 2000 on the first time in Bangalore on hard court instead. The corresponding individual tournament of the Tennis Masters Cup, was held in Lisbon in advance from the 28 November.
In contrast to all other tournaments on the ATP Tour, the final tournaments are not normally performed on the KO system. Instead, take the eight participating pairings divided into two groups to each other in the first round-robin mode, in which the two best double both groups advance to the semifinals. Only from this tournament will be played with the elimination rounds.
Likewise, contrary to the other ATP tournaments the prize money will be paid. What counts here is not only the placement, but the obtained matches and sets also share in the amount of the distribution for the pairings. Overall, the prize pool was $ 750,000.
It won the American Donald Johnson and Piet Norval from South Africa, the set of five started in the tournament. You could chalk up this success with a total of four tournament wins in the season, in addition, it was for both the 14th career title.
