2000 Heineken Open

The Heineken Open 2000 was the 25th edition of the hard court tennis tournament in Auckland. The tournament was the International Series tournament of the ATP part of the male series. It was, together with the Adidas International in Sydney in the second match week of the 2000 season from 10 to 16 January 2000, instead. Both tournament were thus the last preparatory tournaments for the Australian Open, which started on the 17th. The prize money was in each case for single and double tournament $ 325,000. In individual 32 players competed against each other in a double there were 16 pairings.

Defending the individual competition was the Dutchman Sjeng Schalken, who set this year to six eliminated in the quarterfinals. Instead, the set of two Swede Magnus Norman won the eighth title of his career.

In doubles, won the seeded one pairing Rick Leach and Ellis Ferreira, who entered the follow-up of Jeff Tarango and Daniel Vacek without dropping a set. Tarango was standing with his new partner Olivier DELAITRE in the final. It was Leach's 31 double success of his career, for it was the 13th Ferreira
