2000 International Formula 3000 season

The Formula 3000 2000 season was the 16th season of Formula 3000th It began on April 8, 2000 in Imola and ended on August 26, 2000 in Spa -Francorchamps. A total of ten races were run. The champion of the driver Bruno Junqueira won; the champion of the teams won the D2 Play Life Supernova.

Course of the season

Nicolas Minassian won the season opener at Imola before Bruno Junqueira and Mark Webber. Mark Webber won the second race in the rainy Silverstone, while Junqueira finished fifth, Minassian was the eleventh place with no points. Webber took the lead in the championship after the race at Silverstone. In Barcelona, at the Nurburgring and Monaco won Junqueira, took the lead in the championship and went out one -point lead. Tomas Scheckter, son of Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter announced his debut in Formula 3000 in Austria. However, he retired after a suspension failure. At Hockenheim, won his teammate Tomáš Enge, Scheckter was second and Webber third. Junqueira fell out with a broken shift linkage and Minassian did not go into the points.
