2000 NHL Entry Draft
The NHL Entry Draft in 2000, the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League, was held on 24 and 25 June 2000 at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta instead.
A total of 293 players were taken in nine rounds. With Rick DiPietro New York Islanders voted for the first time in history a goalkeeper as the first player of a draft. For stars in their teams but were also at site 2, and 3 solid Dany Heatley, who was born in Germany, and Marián Gáborík. Very much in demand in this draft were players from Switzerland. Since 1976, 14 players from Switzerland had been drawn in the draft, alone in this draft, there were seven players whose rights secured the team.
