2000 Qatar Open
The Qatar Mobil Open 2000 was the 8th edition of the hard court tennis tournament in Doha. The tournament was the International Series tournament of the ATP part of the male series. It was, together with the AAPT Championships in Adelaide and the Gold Flake Open in Chennai in the first match week of the 2000 season instead of from 3 to 10 January 2000. The prize money was in each case for single and double tournament $ 975,000. In individual 32 players competed against each other in a double there were 16 pairings.
Defending the individual competition was the German Rainer Schuettler, who failed in this year's final at the French Fabrice Santoro set at three. Shakers had this in the third set with the score at 3:6, 7:5, 0:3 to give up his view. It was Santoro's third single success on the tour of his career.
In doubles, won the unseeded pairing of Mark Knowles and Max Mirny, which thus began the succession of American doubles Alex O'Brien and Jared Palmer. For Knowles, it was the second title in Doha after 1996 and 13 doubles titles in his career, Mirny celebrated his sixth double success on the tour. It was the first joint of the two double victory.
