2000 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 2000 was the 56th season of Norway's highest football league and the tenth season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on April 8, 2000 and ended on 30 October 2000 with the second qualification game.

Mode

The fourteen teams in the league played in a simple round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 26 games. The two last placed athlete had to dismount. The third last had to play in home and away leg against third- placed teams from the first Divisjon to the whereabouts in the Tippeligaen.

Season

Rosenborg BK won for the ninth consecutive year the Norwegian championship. It was also the 15th championship for the team.

At the beginning of the season the balance of power between the teams was still balanced. From the tenth Gameday then just stood still Rosenborg at the top and extended his lead to up to twelve points from ( 20th Round ). With two losses in a row Viking came again a little zoom. But in the penultimate round to Rosenborg secured the championship. Brann Bergen was able to secure second place by a victory in the last game.

Odd Grenland won the cup. It was the twelfth victory in total and the first since 1931. Among the climbers only Bryne FK was able to maintain in the Tippeligaen. IK Start and FK Haugesund, however, had to again descend into the first Divisjon.

  • A total of 626 goals in 182 games fell, corresponding to an average of 3.44 goals per game.
  • The games were 1,024,722 viewers, thereby establishing for the first time exceeded the one million mark. On average, there were 5,630 per game.
