(20000) Varuna is an asteroid whose orbit extends beyond the planet Neptune in the Kuiper Belt. Was discovered in the celestial body on 28 November 2000 by Robert S. McMillan, an employee of the Spacewatch team at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona. The provisional designation was 2000 WR106.

The asteroid finally got its name from the eponymous Indian deity.

The asteroid is moving at an average distance of 42.90 astronomical units in about 281 years around the sun. The orbital eccentricity is 0.052. The orbit is inclined 17.20 ° to the ecliptic.
