2001–02 Vysshaya Liga season
The 2001/02 season the Wysschaja League was the tenth season of the second highest Russian hockey league.
Mode
The 30 teams were divided Wysschaja league before the season according to regional criteria in two conferences with 15 participants. First, each team played four games against each team in their own conference, so the number of matches per team was 56.
The four best teams from each conference qualify then for the final round, in which they met in return match against each other and ascended the two best teams directly in the Superliga. For a win within regular time each team received three points with a victory after extra two points, a draw and one defeat after extra time there was a point and a defeat after regular time zero points.
