2001 AFC Women's Championship
The 13th Asian Cup Women was a Frauenfußballtunier the Asian Football Confederation and was held in the period from 4 to 16 December 2001 in Taiwan. The winner was the first time North Korea to a 2-0 victory over Japan. China lost in the semifinals for the first time a game at an Asian Cup.
Mode
There were no qualifiers for this tournament. The fourteen teams were divided into a four and two groups of five. Within the preliminary groups played each team once against each other. The group winners and the best runners-up spot reached the semi-finals. The semi-final winners reached the final, the semifinal losers play for third place.
