2001 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 7th World Ice Hockey Championships women were held in the following locations and at the following times.
A total of 26 nations took part in these World Championships.

The qualifying tournament for the 2003 World Championships Division II was held in Bucharest and Maribor. the two winners of Group A and B qualified for the Division II, while all the other teams were eligible for the Tournament Division III.
