2001 World Series

The World Series 2001 was the 97th edition of the Finals of the Major League Baseball. The series started because of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 until 27 October 2001 and ended on November 4, 2001, which is why it is also referred to as the " November Series".

There stood the champion of the American League, the New York Yankees, and the champion of the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks, opposite. Winner of the " Best of Seven " series were the Arizona Diamondbacks by a 4-3 win. The Diamondbacks won Games 1, 2, 6 and 7, the Yankees won their games 3, 4 and 5 for themselves.

For MVP of the World Series, the two Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling were elected. Thus, this award went for the second time after 1981 to more players.
