2002–03 UEFA Cup

The UEFA Cup 2002/ 03 season was the 32nd edition of the competition and was won by FC Porto against Celtic Glasgow. The finale took place in the Olympic Stadium Seville.

Mode

Entitled to participate were all the clubs who had occupied one of the matters governed by the UEFA five year ranking UEFA Cup places in the past to end the season. Like last year, qualified again three clubs on the UEFA Intertoto Cup for the first round. The competition was held in seven rounds in return games ( except finals). In Torgleichstand initially decided the number of away goals scored, then an extension has been reached no decision on this after two periods of 15 minutes was followed by a penalty shoot-out, until the winner was determined. For the third round also met the eight from the first group stage of the Champions League as third-placed clubs for retired participants.

Qualifying round

The first legs took place on August 29, 2002 August 15, the return games.

First round

The Fulham FC Málaga and VfB Stuttgart qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2002.

The first legs took place on 3 October 2002 on September 19, the return games.

2nd round

The first legs took place on November 14, 2002 October 31, the return games.

Round 3

AJ Auxerre, Liverpool FC, AEK Athens, Lyon, Dynamo Kiev, Maccabi Haifa, RC Lens and FC Bruges qualified third party as a group the first group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2002/ 03 for the 3rd round.

The first legs took place on November 28, the return legs on 12 December 2002 instead.

Second round

The first legs took place on February 20, the return legs on 27 February 2003.

Quarterfinals

The first legs took place on 20 March 2003 on 13 March, the return games.

Semifinal

The first leg was held on 10 April and the return legs on April 24, 2003.
