2002–03 Vysshaya Liga season

The 2002/03 season the league Wysschaja was the eleventh season of the second highest Russian hockey league.

Mode

The 27 teams in the league Wysschaja were divided into two conferences before the season according to regional criteria. The Western Conference with 13 participants contained a team has less than the Eastern Conference with 14 teams. First, each team played four games against each team in their own conference, so the number of matches per team in the Western Conference and 48 in the Eastern Conference was 52.

The four best teams from each conference qualify then for the final round, in which they met in return match against each other and ascended the two best teams directly in the Superliga. For a win within regular time each team received three points with a victory after extra two points, a draw and one defeat after extra time there was a point and a defeat after regular time zero points.
