2002 Davidoff Swiss Indoors

The Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel 2002, a tennis tournament, which was held in Basel from 22 to 27 October 2002. It was part of the ATP Tour in 2002 and was played on indoor carpet. The venue of the tournament was the St. James Hall, which is just behind the Basel city limits in Munich stone.

Defender of the single was Tim Henman, the top seeds took up again this year, but was eliminated in the quarter- final against David Nalbandian. This moved on to the finals and won there against Fernando Gonzalez in three sets 6:4, 6:3 and 6:2. For Nalbandian it was both his second title in the current year as well as his second title were on the ATP World Tour. In doubles, Ellis Ferreira and Rick Leach were the defending champions. It took both again this year in the tournament, but with different partners. While Ferreira not make it past the first round, managed Leach to the semifinals. The finale won the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan in straight sets against Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor. For the American brothers it was during the current season already the fifth joint title and their ninth title overall joint on the ATP World Tour.

The field of the individual competition consisted of 32 players, double that of the competition from 16 pairs.
