2002 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships

The Open Water World Championships in 2002 were from 23 to 28 September 2002 in Sharm El -Sheikh instead. There were discharged Individual competition for women and men over the distances 5, 10 and 25 kilometers.

In the women's Viola Valli won about 5 km, Britta Kamrau about 10 km, and Edith van Dijk than 25 kilometers. In the men's Luca Baldini won the title over five kilometers, Yevgeniy Koshkarov triumphed over 10 km and Yuri Kudinov over 25 kilometers.
