2002 Super 12 season

The 2002 season was the seventh edition of Super 12, a rugby union competition with twelve franchise teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

A total of 69 matches were played, each team round-robin against the other eleven teams fought out. It was followed by two semi-finals and eventually the finals. Masters were the fourth time the Crusaders from the New Zealand city of Christchurch.

The points are distributed as follows:

  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss (before possible bonus points )
  • 1 bonus point for four or more attempts, regardless of the Final
  • 1 bonus point for a loss by fewer than seven points difference
