Equipment

The equipment of the participating nations had big differences. So wrote the Canadian athlete Richard Haywood in his report on the team race:

" The conditions were already established at the scene at the start line, with all the techno - Leichtski of Europeans in contrast to a pair of " fat " skis and a pair of " tele " skis, with the Canada team presented. Our race suits were made of Gore - Tex, not Lycra, and we had no logos. Due to the courtesy of some other countries, which were slower than us, we were not last. The best spell we heard came from the Polish team on which we passed on the descent at high speed, who told us: "You guys can definitely skiabfahren fast" - which meant that we were very slow during the ascent "

The approximately 170 cm long Superleichtski the top European teams including binding weighed only two kilograms. Furthermore, they possessed addition to the aforementioned racing suits long and light nordic ski poles.
