2003 AFC Women's Championship

The 14th Asian Cup Women was a Frauenfussballtunier the Asian Football Confederation and was held in the period from June 8 to 21, 2003 in Thailand. Originally the tournament was to take place in April 2003, but was postponed due to the SARS crisis. The winner was the second time in a row, North Korea.

Mode

There were no qualifiers for this tournament. The fourteen teams were divided into a four and two groups of five. Within the preliminary groups, each team plays once against each other. The group winners and the best runners-up spot to reach the semi-finals. The semi-final winners reach the finals, the semi-final losers play for third place.

In addition, the four semi-finalists will qualify for the World Cup of Women 2003.

North Korea is the second time Asian champions. In addition to the title holder, the PRC, Japan, North Korea and South Korea qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003.
