2003 Indoor Hockey World Cup

The first indoor hockey World Championship for Men and Women was held from February 5 to February 9, 2003 in the Arena Leipzig in Leipzig. It occurred both in men as in the women's twelve teams initially into two groups and then in placing matches against each other. A total of 76 matches have been completed.

Germany was able to secure the first World Championship title in both the women's and the men's. This was also expected in advance because Germany was in international indoor hockey as dominant.

To the best goalkeeper the Frenchwoman Maelle Loyot and the German Steffen Erlewein were elected. The Fair Play Trophy went to the ladies from Mexico and the gentlemen from New Zealand.
