2003 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 2003 was the 59th season of the highest Norwegian Football League and the 13th season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on 12 April 2003 and ended on 22 November 2003 with the second qualification game.

Mode

The fourteen teams in the league played in a simple round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 26 games. The two last placed athlete had to dismount. The third last had to play in home and away leg against third- placed teams from the first Divisjon to the whereabouts in the Tippeligaen.

Season

Rosenborg BK won for the twelfth consecutive year, the Norwegian championship. It was also the 18th championship for the team. In addition, they also won for the ninth time the cup competition. It was the seventh overall league and cup double.

The season was characterized by the dominance of the team Rosenborg BK. Already on the second match they took over the top spot and stood there until the end. The advantage over the competition rose rapidly, as they all won the first seven games, and was according to the tenth Gameday already ten points. After that, it was never the less. With three games before the end of the season there were even 20 points. After 22 matchday of the victory was clear in the championship. Rosenborg BK lost only three games, two of them, after the championship was already fixed.

Of the climbers only Tromsø IL was able to maintain in the Tippeligaen. Aalesunds FK, however, was relegated in the first Divisjon again.
