2004–05 ECHL season
The 2004/05 season was the 17th regular season of the ECHL. The 28 teams completed in the regular season per 72 encounters. The point of best team in the regular season were the Pensacola Ice Pilots, while the Trenton Titans won in the play-offs, their first Kelly Cup ever.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Cincinnati Cyclones have been inactive for financial reasons.
- The Greensboro Generals stopped the game operation.
- The Roanoke Express stopped the game operation.
- The Columbus Cottonmouths were transferred to the Southern Professional Hockey League.
- The Baton Rouge Kingfish were reactivated and to Victoria, British Columbia, relocated, where they then played under the name Victoria Salmon Kings.
- The Florence Pride changed their name back to Pee Dee Pride.
