2004 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships

The Open Water World Championships 2004 took place from November 27 to December 2, 2004 in Dubai instead. There were discharged Individual competition for women and men over the distances 5, 10 and 25 kilometers.

The Open Water World Championships in 2004 were strongly influenced by German side. So alone were three of the six titles on German athletes: In the women's Britta Kamrau won about 10 and 25 km, and Larissa Iltschenko over 5 kilometers. In the men's Thomas Lurz won the title over 10 km, Grant Cleland won about 5 km and Brendal Capell over 25 kilometers.
