2004 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 2004 was the 60th season of the highest Norwegian Football League and the 14th season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on 12 April 2004 and ended on 13 November 2004 with the second qualification game.

Mode

The fourteen teams in the league played in a single round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 26 games. The two last placed athlete had to dismount. The third last had to play in home and away leg against third- placed teams from the first Divisjon to the whereabouts in the Tippeligaen.

Season

Rosenborg BK won for the 13th consecutive year the Norwegian championship. It was also the 19th championship for the team.

The season was characterized by tension until the last minute of the season. In the first round the team Tromsø IL was at the top. However, they were able to work out no big lead. In the second half then took over Rosenborg BK in the lead until the end of the season. However, they could not settle. Strange were the last three days when Rosenborg BK and Vålerenga Oslo had both the same score and goal difference. Was only because of more goals scored Rosenborg forward. The last round was then no longer to have been more exciting: from 28 to 58 minutes Vålerenga was the 1-0 lead virtual master. Then Rosenborg scored the first goal and then they were back in front. However, only up to 83 minutes (as 3:1). Now Vålerenga was back with a goal in leadership (as 3:0). The final point in favor of Rosenborg put the top scorer in the league Frode Johnsen in the 89th minute with his 19th goal of the season ( Full 4:1).

The trophy won for the sixth time Brann Bergen. It was the first victory by 1982.

The two newly promoted Fredrikstad FK and Hamarkameratene were able to keep in the Tippeligaen.

  • A total of 531 goals in 182 games fell, corresponding to an average of 2.92 goals per game.
  • The games were 1,458,258 viewers on average there were 8,012 per game, the highest average since the introduction of the single-track top division in 1963.
