2004 WTA Tour Championships
The WTA Championships 2004 ( also known as the WTA Tour Championships presented by Porsche ) was an indoor tennis hard court tournament for women in Los Angeles, United States. The tournament was held from November 15, 2004 at the Staples Center on 10.
The Belgian Kim Clijsters in the singles and the duo Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez in a double were the defending champions.
Winner of the single was Marija Sharapova, who defeated Serena Williams 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The double title secured Nadia Petrova / Meghann Shaughnessy against Cara Black / Rennae Stubbs 7-5, 6-2.

Qualification
The top eight ladies of the WTA Tour qualified for this competition. In addition there were two reservists.
Competition mode
In the round-robin tournament phase (English Round Robin ), played four players in two groups each against all. The two winners of each group qualified for the semi-finals, which was held after the knockout system. The winner of each group played against the second of the other group and the winners of these games contested the final.
