2005–06 Copa del Rey

The Copa del Rey 2005/ 06 was the 102nd edition of the Spanish Football Cup Copa del Rey.

The competition started on 31 August 2005 and ended with the final on 12 April 2006 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu ( Madrid). Defender of the cup competition was Betis Sevilla. The title was won by Espanyol a 4-1 victory in the final against Real Zaragoza. Thus, the Association for the UEFA Cup 2006/ 07 qualified.

The Copa del Rey is played in rounds. The game is played in the first three rounds in only one game - in a draw is with extension, if applicable penalty shoot a decision sought. From the second round, the games will be played in home and away matches. In the Copa del Rey, the same rules apply as for European club competitions: Away goals count more than home goals. The final will be played in a game that looked the winner in a draw through extra time and penalties.
